Giant pasty’s journey to Birmingham
A giant Cornish pasty was taken to Birmingham this week to promote tourism in Looe.
The pasty, baked by Looe’s Phil Palfrey, travelled to Birmingham New Street
station where rail passengers were challenged to guess its weight.
It is part of a promotion encouraging passengers to visit Looe by train.
Liskeard Show offers something for everyone
This year’s show will be held at Merrymeet, near Liskeard on Saturday 9 July.
The show opens at 8.00am and goes on all day.
Admission is £9.00 for adults, Children £4.00 and the under 5s go free.
New for 2011 is a family ticket which admits two adults and two children for £20.00.
Parking is free but for those who want to leave their car at home a free bus service operates from Liskeard.
There will be cattle, sheep, horses, ponies, donkeys, poultry and a companion dog show all competing for the best in show prize.
The main ring entertainment for this year is the 3SIXTY
bicycle stunt team, Ancient Art Falconry, vintage tractor parade and much more.
Live music will be played during the day with something for everyone.
For those who love to shop there will be a great selection of stalls in our marquees and trade stands on the showfield.
Benjamin Palmer the Head Chef at Barclay House Hotel, Looe will be recreating some great dishes for you to try during his cookery demonstration.
