A varied and interesting programme of special events and special trains are also an important part of the Railway’s calendar. Trains run daily until October 9.

The railway celebrates its 25th anniversary this year - the first train movement around Bodmin General Station occurring in June 1986.

To celebrate the anniversary, the BWR is putting on a 25th Anniversary Week from 17-26 June.

During the course of the week all the railway’s working locomotives, steam and diesel, will be put into use.

The event will also feature frequent trains, lots of locomotive action, ‘themed days’ during the week and evening specials.

Don’t miss the railway’s Heritage Transport Festival over the weekend of 19-20 June.

In addition to a regular timetable of steam trains over the line itself, the event will feature a display of classic road and rail transport from yesteryear and a glittering array of

superb machinery in action at Bodmin General Station.

There will be traction engines (full size and miniature) in steam and vintage cars, commercial vehicles and motorcycles on display, together with a fairground including a helter skelter and entertainment for the children.

There will also be brake van rides with the railway’s two smallest engines Alfred and Judy (the inspiration for Bill & Ben in the original Thomas the Tank Engine books), together with an opportunity to ‘cab’ both a steam and heritage diesel locomotive.

All-inclusive tickets will be available offering excellent value for money.

All in all, a great day out for all the family ... and the perfect treat for Father’s Day!

The railway’s first class luxury dining train – which is beautifully fitted out with wood panelling, table lamps and curtains bringing back the style of an age gone by – will be offering Sunday luncheon on 12 June. Advance booking is essential.

The 2011 season of ‘Murder Mystery Specials’ starts on 21 June, running on every Tuesday evening until 20 September.

Solve a murder mystery whilst enjoying a steam train journey through the beautiful Cornish countryside.

Watch and listen as the professionally staged murder plot unfolds before your very eyes.

The steam hauled train departs from Bodmin General Station at 7pm. The ticket is inclusive of the steam train journey and a Cornish Pasty Supper served at your seat – advance booking is essential.
