Dear AQUILA readers
This month always starts with a bang, so
take good care around fireworks and enjoy Guy Fawkes night. We’ve got some yummy warming food for you to make and share round your bonfire, but it’s so good you’ll want to eat it all winter long!
The annual exhibition of wildlife photographs
has just opened at The Natural History Museum, and you can see some of the young winners’ pictures on pages 4 and 5. Don’t worry if you live a long way from London: the exhibition will be travelling all around the country, and around Europe, during 2008.
If you don’t already know who the AQUILA
scientist, Harvey, is named after, you soon will! Harvey tells the story of his namesake on pages 6 and 7.
Did you work out ‘The King’s Riddle’ in last
month’s story? All is revealed in part 2 this month. And while you are puzzling, have a go at part 2 of the Treasure Hunt. Find the password and you could win one of the Wild Science Egyptian Treasures Dig and Discover sets.
Last but not least, thank you to everyone
who entered the ‘Finish the story’ competition in the summer issue of AQUILA. We had some brilliant entries and Pete Johnson, the author who started the story for you, had the difficult job of choosing ten winners. Read some of them on pages 18 and 19, others are on the website –
www.aquila.co.uk. Well done to the winners, and thank you Pete for being a great judge.
Have a sparkling month! From Aquila and the team
