EYEBALL NIGHTLIGHT

1

Cut the bottles Ask an adult to cut the 2 litre bottle for you. You need the rounded end with a neat hole in the middle. Cut the remainder down to approximately 12 cm – this will be your container for the glue.

6 cm

You will also need a circle of clear plastic, approximately 6 cm in diameter.

Ask for the 500 ml bottle to be cut down so you have a tube approximately 6 cm tall.

2

Cover the eyeball Lay tin foil down on your working area as this not only keeps you tidy but prevents your papier mâché from sticking.

Tear the newspaper into strips approximately 6 cm x 3 cm. Don’t cut the paper as the torn edges will provide you with a smoother finish.

Mix 1 part pva glue to 2 parts water.

Take one strip of paper at a time, lay it on the tin foil and ‘paint’ each side with the pva solution. Cover the plastic ‘eyeball’ and tube, inside and out. Allow to dry. Repeat two or three times.

3

Paint the eyeball When dry, take a piece of kitchen roll and lay it over the ‘eyeball’. Cover it entirely with the pva solution. Fold the paper over the edges for a neat finish.

Allow to dry then cover in white paint. You may need two layers of this.

When dry follow the ridges on the eyeball and draw lines with the red felt-tipped pen.
