Gonarezhou National Park
Gonarezhou is Zimbabwe’s second largest National Park and is located in the south east of the country. Due to its vast size, rugged terrain and the lack of permanent camps, Gonarezhou offers a unique wilderness experience. Meaning “the place of many elephants”, the park is estimated to have in excess of 7000 tuskers. In addition Gonarezhou is the jewel in the crown of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a peace park which incorporates South Africa’s Kruger National Park and Mozambique’s Limpopo National Park and allows animals to roam freely between the three sanctuaries.
Gonarezhou Bush Camp
Gonarezhou Bush Camp is a mobile tented camp, which is set up at several locations within the park for the duration of your safari. The camp can sleep a maximum of ten guests in canvas dome tents, equipped with two single beds, a bedside table and a hand basin. Each tent has its own bucket shower and short-drop toilet. Meals are served in the large mess tent, as a bush picnic or by candlelight in the riverbed.
Gonarezhou Walking Safaris
Multi-day walking safaris are available through some of the wildest, rugged and scenically beautiful areas of Gonarezhou National Park. Owing to the nature of walking safaris, which typically cover a lot of ground and where the camp is moved to a new location on a daily basis, it needs to be easily packed up and relocated within a couple of hours. The camp uses Tatonka Double Moskito Domes, which are large enough for two.
The bedding consists of two inch thick foam bedrolls with cotton sheets, duvets and pillows. There are no official toilet facilities provided, and location dependent toilet and showering facilities consist of bathing in a river or having a bucket shower. The camp is geo-cached (dropped off at a secret place, but not set up), therefore guests will need to assist with setting up camp on arrival at the camp site. This is a fun and interactive experience, adding to the feeling of pioneering new ground.
A typical day includes rising at dawn and after a light breakfast setting off on foot with lunch and sufficient water for the day. Depending on the day’s route, the arrival at camp is in the mid to late afternoon which leaves sufficient time to relax and bathe before sunset. In order to get into the rhythm of the bush we require a minimum of four nights and we recommend a maximum of seven nights.
Musango Safari Camp includes: A professionally qualified guide to lead all activities, an exclusive camp for your group, twin accommodation, all meals, all soft drinks, bottled water, local alcoholic drinks, tea, coffee and South African wines, laundry, two activities per day, road transfers to/from camp to Chipinda Pools airstrip.
