Chizarira National Park

Chizarira National Park is located in the north of the country and is the third largest park in Zimbabwe, but remains one of the least known or visited, making it a true wilderness area. Populations of elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard can be found along with various other game. The scenery is majestic as most of the park is a plateau set on the Zambezi Escarpment overlooking Lake Kariba. Chizarira is a birder’s paradise; close to 400 species including Angola Pita, Trogans, and Livingstone’s Flycatcher habituate the grassy valleys and riverine gorges. The appeal of Chizarira lies in its remoteness and the opportunity to experience Africa in its original form.

Chizarira Lodge

Chizarira Lodge is perched along a cliff edge, built in stone and thatch it blends into the surrounding area. There are eight cool and airy en-suite chalets, each opening onto a balcony which overhangs the dramatic valley below.

Within the central lodge are the bar, dining hall and veranda lounges offering space and tranquillity with views across the pool to the shimmering valley. Activities focus on walking safaris and game drives. Camping can be arranged inside the park on request at the intimate Taita Camp. Flights to the park’s airstrip are available from Victoria Falls and Harare.
