Hwange National Park

Hwange National Park is the largest game reserve in Zimbabwe and is home to 105 mammal species and almost 400 birds have been recorded. Great herds of elephant are found – sometimes over 100 strong, and Hwange is famous for its huge tuskers. The park covers 14 600 square kilometres, and all of Zimbabwe’s specially protected animals are to be found within the park. The population of African Wild Dogs is thought to be one of the largest surviving groups in Africa today.

Hwange Safari Lodge

On the border of the park, in its own extensive grounds, is Hwange Safari Lodge. 100 well-appointed rooms and suites look out either onto the pool and waterhole or the natural savanna bush.

Apart from the two restaurants there is also the opportunity to have a bush dinner around a bonfire under the starlit African sky whilst listening to the call of the wild. A wide array of activities is on offer.

Ivory Lodge is big game country and the Big 5 are seen regularly from camp as well as in the park. Game drives can be undertaken either in the park or in Ivory Lodge’s 6000 acre concession. Night drives and foot safaris are also available in the concession with a professional guide.
