Rev Up For Hospice's Motorcycle Run

Calling all bikers! A date has been set for St Elizabeth Hospice's Motorcycle Run. Hundreds of bikers from Suffolk are expected to sign up for the event which

takes place on Sunday June 26 to raise money for the charity.

There is a new route this year. Bikers will set off from a location close to Stonham Barns, near Stowmarket and finish at Felixstowe Motorcycle show where there will be lots of dealers and clubs in attendance. It will be a scenic route through the countryside.Several hundred bikers are expected to attend and raise thousands of pounds for the Hospice, which cares for people in Suffolk with a progressive illness and provides support for their families.

The event is supported by Rob Day and Derek Barker, of Suffolk Advanced Motorcyclists, a charity which aims to improve riding stan- dards, and Ray Walters, owner of Orwell Motorcycles in Ipswich. Mr Barker said: "We hope the 2011 St Elizabeth Hospice Motorcycle Run will be as well supported as the event has been in previous years." The Hospice's senior community fundraiser Rachael Mittell said: "We were overwhelmed by the amount of people who took part last year and wanted to raise money for the Hospice. The bikers were so generous and there was a great atmosphere on the day. Thank you all so much and we hope you will be back this year along with some people taking part for the first time."

It costs just £5 to take part and bikers are encouraged to get sponsorship. Bikers cannot take part unless they have registered. To sign up online or download a registration form visit www.stelizabethhospice.org.uk. For more information call 01473 723600 or email fundraising@stelizabethhospice.org.uk St Elizabeth Hospice is an independent charity and relies on the support of the local community to raise money towards its £6.6 million annual running costs.

MS Week 2011 In Martlesham & Kesgrave

MS Week 2011 is 23rd-29th May 2011, the aim of MS Week is to raise both funds for and awareness of Multiple Sclerosis in the UK. During MS week there are a number of national activities as well as those on a local basis. In this area we are very lucky to have the support of 2 local schools during MS Week.

Gorseland Primary School are hosting a MS Cake Break on Friday 27th May, with the pupils of Year 5 running the complete event themselves, please look out for more publicity via the school. We are very grateful to Mrs Seaborne (Headteacher) and the school holding this event.

Kesgrave High School will be holding an Non-Uniform Day on Friday 27th May, to raise funds and awareness of MS. We appreciate very much the efforts of a KHS pupil from Martlesham Heath who has arranged this with Mr Burgoyne (Headteacher) and we also appreciate the school ad pupils for supporting the MS Society. They have recently donated £450 from a previous Non-Uniform Day.

As the local branch of the MS Society we have our own jointly hosted event with Sue Ryder, Top Crafts 2011 over the weekend 28 & 29th May. Top Crafts is a Craft Fair which will run for 2 days between 10 & 4 at Lavenham Village Hall. Entry is free, there will be in excess of 20 stalls including various arts and crafts. Children's activities are also provided along refreshments being served. Funds are raised by a Draw, with the proceeds of this split between MS Society South Suffolk Branch & Sue Ryder - The Chantry.
