New Zealand to tighten laws on
replica fi rearms Authorities in New Zealand are looking to tighten import controls on airguns and replica guns after police stated that criminals are using them more in burglaries, robberies and muggings. T e changes in law could see similar restrictions on those employed in the UK, where any replica fi rearms must not look realistic to avoid them being mistaken for real weapons. T e New Zealand government has also tightened laws concerning high-powered PCP air rifl es. T is happened after they were used in two fatal shootings, including the murder of a policeman. Regulations were changed in October 2010 requiring owners of PCP air rifl es to hold a fi rearms licence.
Broadheads range sold to Thundervalley A
merican fi rm Magnus Broadheads, specialist
manufacturer of ‘cut-on-contact’ broadheads, has sold its traditional product lines to fellow archery fi rm T undervalley Archery. Magnus’ popular MA and
Snuff er series are now owned and distributed by Louisiana-based T undervalley Archery after the deal was fi nalised last month. Magnus’ CEO, Mike
Sohm, said: “T e Magnus
name has been a trusted one for more than 25 years and we are well aware of the fact that we owe a great deal of our success to our loyal traditional-archer customers. For that reason, we selectively chose a company that we felt would maintain the same level of customer service and quality that we have always provided. “While not an easy decision, we felt that selling our traditional line of products would allow Magnus to focus not only on
our current products, but also on the development of some exciting new ones that we will be introducing later this year.”
