Embrace new media before it’s too late


and, at the last count, we had seen an encouragingly large number of downloads of it in its short existence. T is digital version of the magazine goes beyond just looking ‘cool’, however. It off ers our

readers, you guys in the trade, a more expansive and rewarding experience. In time, the app will feature, in the form of slideshows, pictures that could not be included in the printed edition of the magazine. We also have the option of adding videos and other interactive elements like hyperlinks that give the magazine an extra dimension. Personally, I am really encouraged to see the way in which the gun trade embraces the new media that is so important in our lives today. T e Gun Trade World Twitter account has over 130 followers, a number that’s growing all


the time. We also see new shooting companies creating Twitter, Facebook and other online presences that even fi ve years ago would have been unusual. T e world around us is changing and this means the companies that want to continue to be successful must change with it. Even subtle things like having an active Twitter account can help you speak more directly to your customers, create brand loyalty and promote your product and/or services in a way never before possible. T e Internet and advances in technology have changed the way we communicate but, in my


opinion, for the better. If you are serious about making your business a success then you should at the very least


have a website. A Twitter or Facebook account is also a great addition to your online presence. Besides this, my only advice would be not to discount something new until you have truly investigated it. So many people are quick to dismiss Twitter because of the stories they read in the news or the way their teenage children may use it, but it is a valid and useful marketing tool – one of many that could make you more money!


ou’ll notice that we carry a story this month about Gun Trade World now being available to download in app form from computer fi rm Apple’s popular App Store. For us, this is something pretty exciting. It gives our magazine a much wider reach
