Kwikpoint has been recognized in the field with numer‐ ous awards for its communications tools, including a “Top Pick” at the 2007 EMS Expo, 2008/2009/2010 Communicator Awards of Distinction and 2010 Award of Excellence, National Health Information Awards 2008 Silver Certificate and 2009 Gold Certificate, and a 2010 Gold Hermes Creative Award, among many others. Keeping up with the times, Kwikpoint is entering the world of mobile applications. With the help of Emergency Medical Resources, LLC and Pangea Corp., Kwikpoint is currently developing two mobile apps from two of our most popular Visual Language Translators: The EMS Visual Language Translator and the English/Spanish Medical Visual Language Translator. These apps will help first responders and other medical professionals navigate dif‐ ficult communication situations regardless of language barriers to obtain critical patient and situational informa‐ tion. This information will permit better, more accurate care for the patient to begin faster than ever before. These two apps will initially be available on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch devices through the Apple Apps store and should see their debut within the next two months.
Kwikpoint is also an indispensable and highly effective communication tool for the United States Armed Services. Visual Language Translators are helping save the lives of both soldiers and civilians in conflict zones by assisting with identifying Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), locating weapons caches, identifying enemy positions, instructing on proper use of personal protective gear, and more. They are also easing the delivery of humanitarian aid, and helping to reduce tensions, build rapport, and engage with local populations. To date, over seven million Kwikpoint communication guides have been distributed and utilized by militaries in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa and elsewhere around the world. EMS
