Brassicae


Elsoms are delighted to offer the following superb range of Brassicas from Bejo Zaden, leaders in biennial crop breeding. Elsoms have joint breeding programmes with Bejo for three Brassicae; Brussels sprouts, sprouting broccoli and spring cabbage, and we have our own hybrid Swede breeding programme, reflecting our interest to maintain activity with traditional “British” vegetable crops, and we are always looking to improve more novel Brassica crops, such as white sprouting broccoli. This catalogue shows a selection of the total portfolio. The assortment is continually being reviewed, so please do not hesitate to contact us for further details.


Kohl Rabi Korridor F1


This is suitable for summer and autumn production, a healthy white variety with good standing ability. The bulbs have a mild, crisp flesh, with good standing ability for both fresh market and processing.


Korist F1 A very early variety suitable for forcing. Flattish globe shape with mild, crisp flesh holds well without getting woody.


Kolibri F1 – NCT A mid-early variety, purple skinned with flattish round shape, excellent white flesh quality.


Culinary Kale


Black Kale – NCT Long thin leaves with a 'savoy type' blister, can be sold either as central 'heads' or bunched. A Winter hardy plant from a uniform open pollinated selection. Can be planted from June to August for harvest September onwards.


Russian Kale – NCT Tender, colourful specialty for salad mix and bunching. Special, refined strain. Stems are purple, leaves are deep grey-green, purple-veined, flat, noncurled and tooth-edged. The plants mature medium-tall and leaves are tender compared to other kales.

Reflex F1 – NCT Has shown excellent Winter hardiness, very few yellow leaves produced during Winter. Highly attractive leaves, the leading variety in the UK.


Ripbor F1


A medium to tall hybrid suitable for both autumn and winter production. The leaves are dark green and it shows less yellowing and leaf fall than many other varieties.


Redbor F1 – NCT Attractive red borecole, distinctive leaf contrasts with standard green types. NCT – Available as non-chemically treated seed. 20 Elsoms Seeds 01775 715000


Broccoli Beaumont F1


Beaumont is well suited to Summer and Autumn cropping, producing a uniform head in the 400/500 gram range. Approximately 75 days from transplant to maturity. The well-domed head has few leaves around it making field preparation straightforward.


Belstar F1


Good domed head producing 400/500 gram product, best suited to early and late production. Approximately 70 days from transplant to maturity.


Fiesta F1


Good dome, consistently producing 300/400 gram heads, particularly suited to late Summer and Autumn production, a highly consistent performer. Approximately 80 days from transplant to maturity.
