SIX STRAIGHT FOR ST. JOHN’S News sources from the Annapolis area indicated that St. John’s took the annual Annapolis Cup event by a 3-1 score over Navy. At press, there was still no word on the results of the fiſth game. With the win, St. John’s now leads the series 24-5 over Navy.


MHCC ROCKS THE USCA’S 2010 ANNUAL AWARDS Te Mission Hills Croquet Club in Rancho Mirage, Califorinia was selected as the US- CA’s 2010 “Club of the Year.” In addition, MHCC members also cleaned up at the USCA Awards Banquet as Eric Sawyer won “Volunteer of the Year,” Mike Orgill won “District President of the Year” and Ben Rothman won “Player of the Year.”


CROQUET NETWORK ALSO IN Te Croquet Network Magazine and website was also fortunate enough to garner the 2010 Media Coverage Award from the USCA. Publisher Dylan Goodwin was on hand to receive the award at the Awards Banquet in West Palm Peach, Florida on March 18.


AUSTRALIA WINS TRANS TASMAN 2-1 Australia claimed the Trans Tasman Series 8-4, 4-8, 7-5 over New Zealand. Te event was held April 15-20 in Cairnlea, Melbourne. Te win ended a streak of seven straight non-wins for Australia (draw in 1995). Te last win for the Aussies was in 1991.


PAKARUNGA OWNS AUCKLAND New Zealand’s Pakarunga Croquet Club went undefeated to claim the interclub champi- onship of Auckland, New Zealand. Team members are Precille Harrison, Helen Hopkins, Brian Leitch, Marilyn Stephen-Smith, Joeleen Sunderland, Gill Warn, John Wood, George Wright and referee Tom Hopkins.


MORFORD MALLETS FOR PASADENA CROQUET CLUB Bob Morford of Morford Mallets made a donation of three custom handcraſted croquet mallets to the Pasadena Croquet Club. Eric Sawyer accepted the mallets while visiting MHCC in Rancho Mirage, California. Morford has graciously donated other items to the fast-growing PCC. SKINLEY AND CLARK ARE NZ CHAMPS Paul Skinley and Jenny Clarke were the singles winners from the New Zealand Men’s and Women’s Championships held April 2-5 in Blenheim, Marlborough.


MULLINER WINS THE US ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP Stephen Mulliner won the U.S. Association Singles title with a -4, +7, +26 finals win over Ben Rothman and is now the first player to take open national singles titles in New Zealand, Britain, America and Australia. Mulliner and Brian Cumming snagged the doubles title with a 2-0 win over Jim Bast and Danny Huneycutt.


FLETCHER IS THE AUSTRALIAN CHAMP Robert Fletcher defeated Jim Nicholls 26TP-6, 26TP-2, 0-26TP, 26T-9 for the Australian Men’s Singles Championship. Patricia Devlin took the women’s event over Rosemary Gra- ham 1-26, 26-11, 26-21, 22-20.
