Crown is the new lighting system for urban lighting created with the right mix of design, functions and applied technology. The Crown system is the evolution of the luminaire developed with Michele De Lucchi to light the square and gardens in front of Turin's Venaria Reale palace. Its circular shape was inspired by the “crown” of the many rulers who have lived within the Savoy Palace. The positions of the arms distinguish the various versions: central for the symmetrical optic and lateral for the asymmetrical and street optics.

The OneLUX range of microwave motion sensors delivers outstanding benefits when compared with traditional infrared sensors. A major advantage is that the sensors can ‘see’ thorough plastic and glass, enabling installation inside luminaires without compromising IP rating and facilitating retrofitting. OneLUX microwave sensors are also less sensitive to the ingress of dust and other objects and therefore offer stable and reliable operation.

Sill Lighting’s 003 metal halide projectors have been used in a lighting scheme designed by Arup’s lighting designers for the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. The high power projectors installed above the glass ‘bolla’ housing the rainforest exhibit provide the life support lighting that supplements the daylight that enters through the skylights in the concrete structure of the outer, living roof. Arup specified 140 1KW and 2KW 003 series projectors, designed for the Osram HQI-TS lamp.

MID Lighting has supplied its Trimlite Microprim range of recessed luminaires for Haymarket House. A fitting was needed that could be installed in a metal tile for the offices and a plasterboard ceiling for the corridors, perimeter areas and the toilets. The plasterboard 35W T5 version was supplied in modular and continuous lengths with a trimless flange so only the microprim diffuser was visible. There was a special 21W IP rated adaptation for use above the sinks of the disabled toilets and an emergency option was also supplied. .
