Forget the macramé classes of yesteryear; today’s camps give kids the oppotunity to try everything from building robots and starring in a Broadway production to learning hip-hop moves and interacting with wild animals. Here’s a look at just some of the programs available.

Animal Tales Ages 5 to 9 June 13-17, 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Tuition: $100 Favorite tales with “tails!” Creative storytelling and acting games about our furry and feathered friends with a showcase for families on Friday.


Broadway Guys & Gals Ages 10 to 15 July 25-August 5, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuition: $175 Learn hit songs from some of the greatest Broadway shows and some basic dance moves.

August 1-5, 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Tuition: $100


Clowns, jugglers, tumblers, animal acts, and more. Flex your creative muscles and create a three-ring show that would make Barnum proud!


Lights On & Curtain Up! Ages 10 to 13


June 20-24, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuition: $150


Campers discover the fun elements of being on stage through acting games, role-playing and creating their own show.


Teen Intensive Ages 14 to 18 August 8-12, 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Tuition: $150 Teens will dive into challenging scenes and enjoy improvisational games and role-playing.


Teen Production Camp Ages 13 to 18 June 13-July 1, 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Tuition: $200 Develop acting skills and fire up the creative juices with scenes and monologues written specifically for teen actors.


Wacky Wonders of Dr. Suess Ages 5 to 9 July 18-22, 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Tuition: $100 The zany characters of Dr. Seuss are brought to life as campers act out his best-loved stories. Free performance showcase on Friday.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Entering grades 4 to 12 July 25-August 12, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Tuition: $425, including supplies and costumes Campers participate in a Broadway-style musical production. Rehearsals are Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the YMCA Aquatic Center. Campers will stage three performances at Orlando Shakespeare Theater from August 12-13.
