Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th July
Saltash Town Regatta Anticipation is building as the time for the 176th Saltash Regatta approaches. The Regatta goes from strength to strength, with an estimated 20,000 visitors last year.
The Regatta starts at 11.00 on Saturday with the traditional Parade down Fore Street to Waterside, themed on the Sir Francis Drake and the Pirates of the Tamar. For the Regatta, the whole of the Waterside will be closed to traffic, with only limited parking available for residents and disabled drivers. Instead, visitors are recommended to use the Park and Ride scheme operating from Granada Services off the A38 at Carkeel, with frequent free shuttle buses to the Regatta. First Great Western is also making extra stops at nearby Saltash station on trains from most mainline stations across the region.
Entry to the Regatta is FREE, thanks to generous support from our major sponsors Waitrose plc, Saltash Town Council, Babcock Marine, China Fleet Club and Spinnaker International. Grateful thanks are also due to sponsors including Manuplas, Hemsley Fraser, Carlton Plastics, Brunel Skips, St Mellion Golf and Able Print.
Programmes of events with detailed times will be available on the day, but everyone can help to support the Regatta by buying raffle tickets for the Grand Draw, which will be on sale on Old Ferry Road, and the previous weekend at Waitrose, Carkeel. Headline prizes include £100 cash, a painting, an overnight stay at China Fleet, £200 off Brittany Ferry booking and entry to many tourist attractions.

01726 833019 / 833627 Family canoeing in stable open cockpit canoes along the beautiful River Fowey
PEOPLE talk about the beautiful Fowey River, but it is rarely seen at its best by visitors to Cornwall. Now you can travel several miles upstream from Fowey in either a shared or a single canoe, taking in the wonderfully picturesque views.
The day trip starts and finishes in Fowey and stops off at Golant or Lerryn to enable hungry canoeists to grab a hasty bite to eat!
Anyone who wishes to take part in the trip is advised to book in advance.
There is no need to be an expert. Total beginners are welcome and there is also no need to be able to swim as buoyancy aids are
provided and the canoes will not sink. All ages are welcome (under 8’s are free).
Casual clothes (pre- ferably shorts or a tracksuit) would be very suitable and canvas or deck shoes are best.
A
waterproof / windproof coat would be advisable.
The cost of a full day out on the river is just £25.00 per person, which includes use of the canoe, buoyancy aids and back up facilities, but does not include the cost of lunch at the stop off point.
Anyone interested in taking part in a day trip should call David on (01726) 833019 or 833627.
