Community Repaving Arizona Ave., Frye Rd.

A 1.5 mile stretch of Arizona Avenue between Willis and Queen Creek roads and a 4 mile section of Frye Road between Price and McQueen roads are being resurfaced as part of a $2.5 million street repaving project.

The work on Arizona Avenue is scheduled to be completed in mid-May. The Frye Road work will be completed by mid-June.

Cutler Repaving, Inc. is on contract with the City to perform the work, which involves a special process called Hot-In-Place repaving. City Public Information Offi ce Jim Phipps says this fast moving process provides a cost effective means to rehabilitate worn pavements by re-using the old asphalt. The process mills up the existing pavement, recycles the material and lays it back down in one pass with a new layer of asphalt placed on top.

Phipps says informational signs have been placed ahead of the work to notify motorists of lane restrictions, and while no road closures are required, some short-term access restrictions to driveways may be necessary.
