Αγώνας Ύδρας 25 - 27.03


Ο ανοιξιάτικος αγώνας της Ύδρας, που διοργανώνει ο ΠΟΙΑΘ, ανοίγει την ιστιοπλοϊκή σεζόν. Εφέτος η αργία έπεφτε Παρασκευή, με αποτέλεσμα οι αγωνιζόμενοι να κερδίσουν μία ημέρα.


Την Παρασκευή 25 Μαρτίου το πρωί δόθηκε η εκκίνηση του πρώτου σκέλους μήκους 36 ναυτικών μιλίων, με ασθενή νοτιά. Σε όλη τη διαδρομή δεν παρουσιάστηκε βελτίωση του καιρού, αλλά αντίθετα τα συνεχή κοψίματα στην ένταση του ανέμου, ταλαιπώρησαν τους ιστιοπλόους και έφεραν ανακατατάξεις στα αποτελέσματα. Τουλάχιστον ο ήλιος, η ζέστη και η καλοκαιρινή ημέρα συνέθεταν ένας ευχάριστο περιβάλλον. Οι τερματισμοί κράτησαν μέχρι αργά το απόγευμα. Στον αγώνα συμμετείχαν 75 ιστιοπλοϊκά σκάφη με 600 ιστιοπλόους. Το Σάββατο το μεσημέρι έγινε η απονομή επάθλων στη «Λαγουδέρα». Την Κυριακή 27 Μαρτίου η εκκίνηση δόθηκε το πρωί στο θαλάσσιο χώρο έξω από το λιμάνι της Ύδρας, με τις ίδιες σχεδόν καιρικές συνθήκες. Ο άνεμος ήταν ασθενής, με αποτέλεσμα μία ώρα μετά την εκκίνηση κανένα σκάφος να μην έχει περάσει τα Τσελεβίνια. Αργότερα η ένταση του ανέμου αυξήθηκε, αλλά ακόμα και τα πρώτα σκάφη άργησαν να τερματίσουν.


Αγώνας Κύθνου 29.04 - 01.05


Τον αγώνα της Κύθνου διοργανώνει ο Ναυτικός Όμιλος Ελλάδος και έχει ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον, επειδή είναι αρκετά μεγάλος, αλλά αρκετά γρήγορος.


Η εκκίνηση του πρώτου σκέλους για τα 28 σκάφη που συμμετείχαν δόθηκε την Παρασκευή 29 Απριλίου στις 16.00 με τον άνεμο να είναι αρχικά γύρω στους 16 κόμβους από νοτιοδυτικές διευθύνσεις. Η διεύθυνση άλλαζε, με αποτέλεσμα να απαιτείται προσπάθεια, ενώ η ένταση έπεφτε σταθερά πλησιάζοντας την Κύθνο. Το πρώτο σκάφος μπήκε στο λιμάνι του Μέριχα στις 00.30. Η παραμονή στο νησί ήταν πολύ όμορφη, η εκδήλωση της απονομής ήταν πολύ ζεστή και φιλόξενη. Τα παιδάκια που χόρεψαν παραδοσιακούς χορούς, έδωσαν ιδιαίτερο χρώμα. Την Κυριακή της Πρωτομαγιάς, ο αγώνας πήρε εκκίνηση στις 10.45. Οι συνθήκες ήταν καλύτερες, ο άνεμος κυμαινόταν μεταξύ 16 και 20 κόμβων, από ανατολικές διευθύνσεις, που άλλοτε γύριζε προς βορειοανατολικό και άλλοτε προς νοτιοανατολικό. Η ένταση και πάλι σταδιακά μειωνόταν, αλλά η πλεύση ήταν ανοικτή. Επίσης, το σκέλος της επιστροφής τερμάτιζε στη Βούλα, με αποτέλεσμα να είναι γρήγορο.


Hydra Race 25 - 27.03


The spring race to Hydra, organised by HORC, opens the sailing season. This year the bank holiday of the 25th March was on Friday which allowed the contestants another day for their sailing trip.In the morning of Friday the 25th March the start of the first 36-mile leg was given with only light winds around. Throughout the course the weather did not improve at all. On the contrary, the frequent drops in wind speed were a hassle for yachtsmen and had a strong influence on the race results. At least the sun and the summer day created a pleasant setting. Sailboats didn’t stop crossing the finish line till late in the evening. 75 sailboats and 600 yachtspeople participated in the race. On Saturday noon the awards cer- emony was held at the “Lagoudera”. On Sunday morning of the 27th March the sailboats started outside the port of Hydra with more or less the same weather conditions. Due to the light winds, one hour after the start of the race none of the sailboats had passed the rocks of Tselevinia. Later on, the winds grew stronger but even the first sailboats were late to cross the finish line.

Kithnos Race 29.04 - 01.05


The race of Kithnos is organised by the Yacht Club of Greece and it is of particular interest, since it is quite long and still quite fast. The start of the first leg for the 28 sail- boats was fired on Friday, April 29 at 16.00 with a south- west wind blowing at approximately 16 knots. The wind kept changing direction which required great skills. What’s more, the wind speed kept falling steadily as the boats were approaching Kithnos. The first boat entered the port of Merihas at 00.30. The day on the island went by beauti- fully and the medals ceremony was warm and friendly. The children who danced traditional dances were a pleas- ant surprise. On Sunday, the first of May, the race started at around 10:45. The weather conditions were better, as the wind was blowing at 16 to 20 knots from the east, at times turning to northeast or southeast. The wind speed gradu- ally dropped again, but the boats were running. Moreover, the finish of the sailing leg back to Athens was in Voula which made it a quick race back.
