TEXT MESSAGE PROGRAM HELPS DENVER DRIVERS AVOID STREET SWEEPING TICKETS

Denver drivers are being offered a way to avoid parking tickets this spring season by signing up for a free text message program that alerts drivers of street sweeping days in their area.

Local design and marketing agency Honest Bros. developed the free text message service in 2010. Denver drivers can sign up for the program at textvsticket.com.

The City of Denver’s street sweeping program starts April 1 and continues through November. More than 100,000 tickets were issued last year to drivers in the way of sweepers.

“There is nothing more frustrating to start or end your day with one of those yellow envelopes sticking out of your car door,” said Eric Hines, founder of Honest Bros. “We just want to get the word out about the program so more people can hopefully save a little cash this season.“

Drivers can tailor text messages to their needs—from what days to be alerted and what time of day—either 7 a.m. or

7 p.m. Hines said the service has about 700 subscribers. At the peak of the spring street sweeping season, the program had more than 1,300 subscribers. Honest Bros. continues to partner with Denver-based ID345 to provide the service.

Although the current program is only available to Denver drivers, Hines said the back-end programming and support is present to expand into other cities in metro Denver and around the country. With those capabilities in mind, Hines said he sees great business potential with the program, as sponsorship of the text messages is available.

“If a company is looking to reach Denver drivers or to reach Denver drivers on certain days of the week, you can’t get more targeted than that,” Hines said.
