principal project, People for Children was launched to provide education and support for international efforts to eliminate human trafficking with an emphasis on children. Martin ad- dressed government officials and U.N. representatives to condemn in- ternational child-sex tourism. Ricky Martin has been actively involved in politics to raise awareness of the hor- rible abuse that children and adults are involved in. In 2006, Martin addressed the U.S. Congress’ House International Relations Committee to encourage all the world’s countries to ratify the U.N. Convention on the rights of the Child and enforce a strong birth-registration policy. The Ricky Martin then joined the Alliance to End Human Trafficking and Slavery and lobbied for adequate

public policymaking. The foundation joined forces with the Inter-American Development Bank and the Interna- tional Organization for Migration to launch Call and Live, the first regional campaign to combat human trafficking in the Americas. Ricky Martin’s love for children in-
spired to him to become a father and have children of his own. In August of 2008, Martin welcomed twin-sons, Val- entino and Matteo and became a proud parent taking a year out of the spot- light to raise his beautiful boys. Martin, a single father enjoys raising his sons without the help of a nanny and counts every moment with them a blessing, “I’m doing this on my own because I don’t want to miss a moment.
