EnerTrac Hosts Green Launching Pad Awards
by Doug Robinson New Hampshire Governor John Lynch, along with U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu and University of New Hampshire (UNH) President Mark Huddleston, announced the teams chosen to participate in the second round of the Green Launching Pad. The decision to announce the awards at EnerTrac, located on River Road in Hudson, on Thursday, April 28, was due to the
fact that EnerTrac won the distinction of having won the Green Launching Pad’s award last year. The Green Launching Pad is a partnership between the state and UNH, which helps innovative New Hampshire businesses and individuals bring their clean energy products to market. The Green Launching Pad is funded through energy stimulus funds. The Green Launching Pad is a public and

private sector initiative that enables local start-ups to bring green solutions to market. They discover New Hampshire’s best and brightest, and then support them with the financial resources, business infrastructure, and academic expertise to succeed. “Founded in 2010, the Green
Launching Pad (GLP) is a strategic partnership of the University of New Hampshire and New Hampshire Office of Energy and Planning, with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (ARRA). The organization connects entrepreneurs and private industry with technical, scientific and business faculty, students and state-level resources to successfully launch and accelerate the growth of new green businesses” states UNH. Governor Lynch spearheaded an effort to create the Green Launching Pad, a partnership between the state and the university established last year that is working to help innovative companies bring new products to market and create jobs. Last year, UNH faculty staff and students provided intensive support to five New Hampshire companies working to bring new, clean energy products to market. EnerTrac won the Green Launching Pad recognition for their revolutionary oil and propane tank monitoring device. The monitoring device “reads the fuel level every hour and tells the dealer when to deliver fuel.” As a result, “40 percent fewer deliveries equates to 40 percent less cost and CO2
” emissions into the
atmosphere. EnerTrac’s monitoring device magnetically
attaches to the fuel tank and plugs into a “remote- ready gauge.” The devices installs easily and within “15 seconds.” EnerTrac has been successful in developing a remote monitoring system to help fuel dealers improve both operational efficiency and reduce harmful emissions by more than 30 percent. The success of the company illustrates the mission behind the Green Launching Pad program, and serves as an example to other New Hampshire companies looking to enter the emerging green economy.
As a result, EnerTrac has created partnerships with many oil and propane providers to install the device. According to Patrick Mansfield, VP, Business Development, the opportunities are endless through the Unite States and around the world. “We are very appreciative of the recognition we have received and we are especially thankful to our investors who continue to support our ongoing endeavors.” “The first round of the Green Launching Pad

As part of an ongoing maintenance program, Pennichuck Water will be conducting evening water main and hydrant flushing on Sunday, May 1st, 2011 to Thursday, May 5th, 2011, and Sunday, May 8th to Thursday, May 12th between the hours of 10:00pm and 6:00am.
This program involves opening flushing valves to create increased water flows which dislodge and clean out naturally occurring sedi- mentation in the pipelines. It may cause minor flooding of streets and slight discoloration of water and/or a short period of low pres- sure. Please avoid washing clothes during the dates and times detailed above.
Flushing is done to maintain water quality throughout the distribu- tion system. The Company reassures customers the water is safe to drink and any discoloration should clear up after the water is run a few minutes.

has been a tremendous success, benefiting not only those companies that participated, but working to strengthen our state’s economy,” Governor Lynch said. “I am focused on making sure that we are growing the jobs and companies of the future right here in New Hampshire and the Green Launching Pad is just one way we are doing that. The ideas and the products that have been nurtured by the Green Launching Pad are helping create good jobs, and I am pleased that we are working together to help six more New Hampshire businesses.” The Green Launching Pad is funded with $1.5 million of federal economic stimulus funds from the U.S. Department of Energy. “The Department of Energy is proud to be a partner in the Green Launching Pad program,” said Secretary Chu. “By helping New Hampshire’s clean energy businesses grow, we can strengthen our competitiveness and create the good jobs of the 21st century.” About 50 businesses and entrepreneurs submitted applications seeking to take part in the Green Launching Pad. An advisory board selected six business teams that will be supported during an intensive summer business accelerator program based in the Seacoast and aligned with UNH. “Our support of the Green Launching Pad demonstrates UNH working at its best with its local and national partners. One result, of course, is new jobs at innovative and growing companies. This work is also helping thousands of New Hampshire residents and businesses save money on their fuel bills,” President Huddleston said. “And EnerTrac’s smart meters are helping fuel oil and propane companies to be more profitable while they also reduce their own greenhouse gas emissions.
