New Hampshire Wave AAU Basketball Team Wins RI Breakers Invitation Tournament
submitted by Wendy Katsekas The eighth-grade New Hampshire Wave AAU basketball team was crowned champions at the prestigious Rhode Island Breakers Invitational Tournament. The Wave beat teams from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The New Hampshire Wave is made up of eighth graders from Litchfield, Bedford, Manchester, Hooksett, Nashua, and Peterborough. They next play in the State Tournament on May 9 and 10.
submitted by Northern Cyclones Congratulations to the Northern Cyclones 2000 Squirt Selects hockey team in winning the NH Granite State League Squirt Championship this past weekend, which was held at the beautiful Hanaway Arena at Plymouth State University, defeating the Concord Capitals in the Championship game 7-1. Cyclones Head Coach Bob MacKenzie’s team, seeded fourth in a tough, six-team field, played great team hockey all weekend long, beating some very good teams along the way. Assistant Coaches Walter Blaschuk and Mike Bernard worked very hard with Coach
MacKenzie all season long, helping the kids fulfill their goal of a championship. The Cyclones were 3-1 in the playoffs and
every player on the team contributed to their success.
Great goaltending, solid defense, strong offense, and a great bunch of kids playing Cyclones Hockey bring another championship home to the proud Northern Cyclones Organization.

submitted by Brian Crawford, Executive Health and Sports Center Congratulations to Executive Swim Club members Joe Moleski of Litchfield, Chris Giraldi, Matthew Grauslys, and Dominic Ziole for competing in the 2011 Speedo Championship Series Northern Sectional meet over the weekend of March 24-27. The competition, taking place in Buffalo, NY, is the largest meet in the Northeast. Moleski of Litchfield and a Bishop Guertin freshman had best times in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly. Giraldi swam a personal best time in the 100-yard Backstroke. Ziolek swam to best times in the 200 Breaststroke and 100 Butterfly. Grauslys swam best times in the 100 Backstroke and 200 Butterfly. The athletes train at the Executive Health and Sports Center in Manchester.
