tep right up, step right up to see “The Impossible Princess” as she
transforms into a Greek Goddess right before our very eyes. See Kylie fly and dance around a stage which has nearly 1 million moving parts (that was the count according to her across-the-pond shows), it includes a Bellagio-style water fountain extravaganza. See her hot male backup dancers, witness the spectacle, the death-defying feats and sheer scope of everything Kylie. But wait, there’s more… Hear her catalog of hits from “I Believe In You” to “All The Lovers,” and all stops in between in one sitting. Or more appropriately, out of your seats and dancing with nearly two hours of pure, unadulterated Minogue—all this for the price of a pretty (big) penny… Can your gay heart stand it? Yes? Then here’s even more to get
your collective panties in a wad. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and boys who act like girls; it’s coming! Get ready for the tour of all tours as it pulls into the states. Oh, and the noise you hear that sounds like a swarm of locusts 1 million strong, is actually the cheers, claps and screams all across this great land of ours. The aforementioned items are all key ingredients that describe her latest musical
endeavor, which she has perfected into a seamless recipe of pop sensibilities and high production values, besting her previous efforts by a country mile. Speaking of miles and countries…it is only the second time in her illustrious, nearly three- decade career as a pop star that Minogue returns to the U.S., including an L.A. show on May 20 at The Hollywood Bowl. This factoid isn’t surprising, as fame first came for her circa the 1980s and then in 2001 with “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head,” while efforts such as Body Language, X and Aphrodite have cemented what those across the pond have remembered fluidly for the span of her 23-year musical career; she’s the real deal and a diva of the highest magnitude. This stunning Australian woman is the epitome of external beauty and matching
internal loveliness as The Rage Monthly found out. It’s no surprise that she has risen to the status of icon, as her brand of honesty and humor prevalent during this interview, clearly illustrates her depth! Without further ado (or exposition), we present to you the majesty that is Kylie Minogue as she transforms her “Aphrodite: Les Folies” tour into “Aphrodite Live 2011.” Please, no flash photography and silence your cell phones… the diva is speaking.
On The Scope Of Her Tour: There are so many different elements in this production; I’m sure you’re [all] aware
that we’re unable to bring exactly the same production to The States. We’re bringing everything that we can squeeze into the performance venues. The shows that we’re doing here, it’s a massive spectacle. The stage is mesmerizing; it’s so technically ad- vanced. But I genuinely think the best part is the emotion within the room, however we create that emotion doesn’t really matter; it’s that we get to it.
What Fans Can Expect From The American Version Of Her Show: I would love to be able to bring everything, but that’s just not possible. So, I’m
bringing everything that I can to do a great show. I think the tour I did in 2009, which, of course was my first one; was just so amazing, that’s why I’m coming back. The energy was just out of control, the passion from the audience, my excitement at being there. So I’m coming armed with a lot; but I kind of feel like even if I didn’t have as much as I am able to bring—it will still be a great show! I think you’re really going to like it.
On Returning To The United States To See Her Gay Fans: There’s kind of a group of supporters, I suppose, who have been with me for a long
by tim parks
time, and it’s been a weird level of success for me in the states compared to other territories. But, I’m so thrilled to be able to come back and share that kind of history with you; sometimes it feels like we’re members of some secret society, in the best sort of way.
