“Water is Rising”: Traditional Music & Dance from Pacific Islands Endangered by Climate Change

The Pacific Islands of Kiribati, Tokelau, and Tuvalu are fast being submerged by rising sea levels due to global warming. A troupe of 30+ performers from these endangered geological regions will bring traditional Polynesian songs and dances to Vermont, accompanied by video imagery of their way of life and the perilous effect of climate change on their ecologies. This is a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the living arts from these soon-to-be-extinct nations, who hope the world won’t forget them when the water rises.
