“As You Like It”

Performed by VT Stage Company in FlynnSpace Tuesday & Thursday, May 1 & 3 • 10 am • Grades 6-12 • 2 hours • $12

LIT

The idyllic Forest of Arden sets the scene for Shakespeare’s glorious romantic comedy of courtiers, clowns, and philosophers, all bewitched by the trials and triumphs of love. Disguised as a boy, Rosalind escapes the perilous court only to find her heart in peril, as she instructs the man she loves how best to woo a woman. Cleverly disguised by all the frivolity is the Bard’s incisive commentary on some of humanity’s most basic struggles: love, of course —but also loyalty, selfishness, and survival. Relates to studies of Shakespeare, theater. VT Stan.: 1.3, 5.3, 5.16. With support from the Susan E. Quinn Memorial Fund
