TARMAC Every runner counts in HDSRL races W
ell after a quiet couple of months on the road, things are hotting up again. There’s been a batch
of good 10Ks and some fab results for both 10 mile and 20 mile races. The spring marathoners seem to be flying at the moment, good luck to them all over the next couple of weeks, all that hard work will be worth it. Wednesday 4 May sees the start of the John Carr 5K series, a local three-race series (though you can do one or all of them) from Esholt. If you haven’t signed up yet, now is the time to do it as you can’t enter on the night, see Saltaire Striders (previously St. Bedes AC) for more details. The day after, Thursday 5 May, sees the return of the Harrogate District Summer Road League (HDSRL) with the first race of around 5 miles at Thirsk. Please sign up

on 30 May. And after two races in the road competition (the Dewsbury 10K and the Thirsk 10 mile), Jane is (quite rightly) Queen of the Road, but with a very close competition behind her.

on club nights or let a committee member know if you want a number as they need a signature. I will be hopefully taking a couple of teams to the British Masters Road Relays in Birmingham on 21 May. I need a team of four for the V35s and teams of three for the V45s and V55s. Unfortunately, as it is a national event, we can only take one team per category. Please contact me if you wish to be in a team as soon as possible, by the 20th April. Jane Bryant, Women’s Road Captain
