not just in individual races but in overall League positions and a lot of top placings were still undecided going into the final event, a relay and presentation of awards at Nell Bank Outdoor Centre organised by Ilkley Harriers. In the KS2 races many top places were taken by Junior Ilkley Harriers: Year 3 girls, Catherine Westhead, Caitlin Oddie, Briony Healy; Year 3 boys, Harry Firth (2nd); Year 4 girls, Bethan Morley, Evelyn Malir, Ella Shouler-Harris; Year 4 boys, Dominic Coy (2nd); Year 5 girls, Alessandra Ricci (1st), Eva Jeffels (3rd); Year 5 boys, Francis Westhead (1st), Sam McKinnon-Evans (2nd); Year 6 girls, Louisa Duncan, Jess Burgess, Francesca Woodman; Year 6 boys, Charles Smith (2nd).

PECO Cross-Country League This has been the third season that junior races were run in this League and there has been a steady increase in numbers competing. This season 100 different children competed with 30 from Ilkley. Juniors who achieved a top five placing were: U11 girls, Alessandra Ricci (2nd), Jess Burgess (5th); U11 boys, Euan Brennan (2nd), Robbie Matthews (3rd); U13 girls, Sarah Pickering (1st), Lucy Williamson

(2nd), Isobel Hirst (5th); U13 boys, James Pickering (4th); U15 girls, Anna Pickering (3rd); U15 boys, Jack Cummings (3rd); U17 boys, Sam Wood (1st).

Sportshall Athletics Sportshall Athletics plays a big part in our junior athletics programme so it’s always great to report on success in this area. In January our U13s and U15s took part in regional trials for places in the West and North Yorkshire teams. The numbers attending from Ilkley were disappointing this year but still four juniors were selected for West Yorkshire and one for North Yorkshire. Chloe Tindale and Naomi Elliott were selected for the U15 team, Will Giles and Lucy Tindale the U13s with Edward Muirhead (North Yorkshire). We coach 160 children each week for

Sportshall Athletics and at the end of March we present Shine Awards to them all. Since September the 11–15 year olds worked towards Level 3 Sportshall Athletics Heptathlon Awards and 8–11 year olds Level 2 Agility Challenge Decathlon Awards. Each year standards continue to rise. This year we gave Heptathlon gold medals to Bea Bradley, Sam Hopkinson-
