what’s on offer on the LDWA website. If you’re after a long training run with some company, or you’re looking for a new event in a different area, or you just don’t enjoy the out-and-out competition of traditional fell racing, give it a try and get yourself along to one of these events. I’ll definitely be heading back when next winter comes around, although the events are all year round. Distances vary greatly and stretch from 10 miles, right up to the annual 100-miler which changes location each year. Amanda Parnaby regularly takes on the challenge of these events and I’m sure has a wealth of knowledge and advice for the inquisitive amongst you, as does Eddie Winslow. So, I’ll see you in Horton on the 30th, in the meantime, I hope you’re all enjoying your running, and of course the lighter nights. Pete’s (in)famous Thursday night session is now back on the Moor so that’s something for you all to look forward to!
ENGLISH FELL CHAMPIONSHIPS, MEARLY CLOUGH, 14 MAY
The next English Champs race is Mearley Clough on 14 May. It’s based on Pendle Hill from what I can gather so not too far to travel and a short counter (3.5m/1200ft). Entries must be received no later than 1 May, see Clayton-le Moors Harriers website for more details and an entry form.
I’m not sure if there’s an entry limit but it would be wise to enter sooner rather than later. Men and women race seperately so you’ll get to spectate as well as race.
It would be good to get a team result on the board as we missed out at Long Mynd, hope to see you there.

FELL RUNNERS ASSOCIATION RELAYS AT KETTLEWELL, 15 OCTOBER
The FRA Relays are to be held in Kettlewell on 15 October. This year as it’s on home turf, it would be great to have a few teams out.
We are hoping to get entries for three women’s teams so if you fancy being on a female Vet, A or B team, let Emma Barclay or Helene Whitaker know.
It will be advertised more widely in the next Newsletter and on the website, which races you should aim to take part in to show form/interest or simply have a practice on the fells if you want to come and have a try. Surely we can get 18 women out?
