Blue Devils Win Two on the Diamond by Chris White Salem baseball took
two one-run victories over Bishop Guertin and Exeter last week. The Blue Devils came from behind to defeat Bishop Guertin, 2-1, at Holman Stadium in Nashua on Wednesday, and then fended off Exeter, 8-7, at Michele Park on Friday.
Guertin took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and the score remained that way until the seventh when Salem’s Brendan Dunn (one for three) knocked home Joe Morin (one for two, double) and Joe DiPalma with a base hit. Guertin’s pitching gave up only two hits to Salem, but Dan Peters kept the Cardinals’

batting order in check after surrendering the game’s initial run in the first inning. Peters went on to pitch six innings of shutout ball for the
win. He recorded nine strikeouts and allowed only four hits for the entire game. The Devils also pulled ahead for good in the late innings against Exeter. A sacrifice fly by Zach Stevens brought home DiPalma as the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth, giving Salem an 8-7 lead. Lefty pitcher Nick Poore came on in relief in the top of the sixth and pitched two shutout innings to earn the win. Providing RBIs for the Devils were DiPalma (two), Stevens,
Trevor Bouvier, Josh Treff, Joe Morin, and Dan Morin. Recording multiple hits were DiPalma (two for three) and Joe Lemenager (two for three). Scoring runs were Lemenager (three), Bouvier (two), DiPalma (two), and Joe Morin. After the win over Exeter, Salem owns a record of 5-1.

Both were defeated 4-8 in singles and then defeated 4-8 again in doubles. After last week, Salem’s record stands at 2-4, with important matches against Timberlane and Manchester Central coming up next week.
Salem Boys’ Tennis Wins One of Three
by Chris White The Salem boys’ tennis team had three

The boys earned their second win of the season against Nashua North at Michele Park on Monday, April 18, and then dropped their next two contests to Bishop Guertin and Exeter, two teams atop the Division I standings this season. Salem beat North 7-2, with some quality performances from its players. Recording singles wins for the Blue Devils were Chris Bacho (8-6), Ryan Greenleaf (8-2), Ryan Hatfield (8-3), Jay Sahasakmontri (9-7), and Connor Morisseau (8-3). Earning doubles victories for Salem were the tandems of Sahasakmontri and Ryan Breton (8-1), and Hatfield and Morisseau (8-0). The Blue Devils dropped 9-0 decisions to Bishop Guertin and Exeter later in the week, playing Guertin on the road and Exeter at home. Car enthusiasts will tell you that one of the best ways to maintain that new car look is to keep up with a frequent washing schedule. Removing road grime and other plagues of automotive paint on a routine basis keeps a car looking its best. There are some rules of the road when maintaining the exterior of a vehicle to ensure the finish remains in pristine condition. Keep in mind these dos and don’ts. DO use products specifically designed for automobiles. Household cleansers
DON’T wash the car while it is hot, after it’s been sitting out in the sun a while or directly after it’s been driven. The warmth can cause the water and soap to dry faster, leaving unsightly deposits. DO wash off dead insects, road salt, mud, etc., as soon as possible. Otherwise these substances may stick to the paint and cause erosion. DON’T assume the rain will clean the car. In areas with acid rain, it’s actually essential to rinse a vehicle off after it rains to prevent damage. DO move the sponge lengthwise along the vehicle. Swirling the sponge may cause tiny scratches.
