A Courtyard Rebuild at Nottingham West Elementary School


Useful space in the school, but ‘outside’ seemed to be the keyword from Nottingham West Elemen- tary School Principal Peter Durso when asked about the goal of the courtyard. “Our courtyard is a prime location in our school for students, classroooms, and staff,” said Durso. “Often, parents come to enjoy lunch with their child, classes gather for a special outdoor class or activities, or families gather during events. In order to preserve this area and continue for it to be useful and inviting, we will be starting a redesign project,” he stated. As the project gets underway, the school will be looking for volunteer support to defray the labor costs. Jim DiNovo, owner of Design Works in Nashua, recently visited the school to view the Court- yard, and has donated a free design concept for the project.
