obert J. Wilhelm Sr. died Feb. 14. He was a senior preferred member
who joined the club in 1936. Wilhelm was born in 1916. He gradu- ated from Washington High School and was a Chi Psi at University of Oregon. After college he moved back to Portland and began his long career working for Wilhelm Trucking Co. in Northwest Portland.
In addition to the family business,
Wilhelm was involved in several other businesses and associations. He started Wilhelm Nationalease in 1944, and was a founding member of National Truck Leasing System. In 1947 he and his brother Rudie purchased Campbell Towing and Rigging. Wilhelm was presi- dent for 20 years until he sold his portion of the company. He was president of Oregon Drayman and Warehousemen’s Association, Oregon Trucking Association, a founding member of the Specialized Carrier & Rigging Association, and the Northwest Industrial Neighborhood Association in Portland. He served on many boards of directors, including Portland General Electric, American Red Cross, and Junior Achievement. In the early ’50s, he was involved in creating Healy Heights Park, which was later donated to the city. Wilhelm was a member of Arlington Club, Astoria Country Club, Downtown Rotary Club, and Waverley Country Club. Survivors include his children, Susan Grayson, Robert Jr., Trudie Wilhelm and Patricia Murphy; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne. Margaret M. Danner died Feb. 15. She was a senior preferred member who joined the club in 1947.
Margaret Bray was born in Minneapolis in 1921. She attended St. Catherine’s College; after college she attended nursing school in Fargo, N.D. In 1941 she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served at the San Diego Naval Hospital. Following the war, she was deployed to Portland due to the polio outbreak at the time.
