Leverage your certification Squeeze every possible benefit from compliance and
certification by looking beyond the obstacles and hurdles to the advantages the process can generate for your business in the gaming industry
If you’re running your gaming operations from a strictly-regulated jurisdiction, then you’re already aware of just how much time and money you need to invest in complying with Government standards. It’s no piece of cake satisfying all those strict obligations, and it’s a job that never ends since many of them involve ongoing monitoring and controls.
Whether this already sounds like your daily grind in the office, or you’re just in the early stages of setting up shop in a top-tier jurisdiction, you’ll need to squeeze every possible benefit out of your compliance efforts. If you treat this regulation as nothing more than a hurdle to jump over, or a hoop to jump through, then you’ll be missing out on the many advantages that your competitors are already enjoying.
GETTING YOURSELF CERTIFIED The first step in finding these valuable benefits is certification. Many Government regulators require you to obtain independent certification to serve as proof of your compliance with their standards. This leaves you with an effective and tangible marketing tool.
If your certification culminated in some form of report, letter or certificate (most do), then investigate how you might publish these results. Many auditing firms and Accredited Testing Facilities (ATFs) will even provide special publish- ready certificates expressly for this purpose. This will help maintain the loyalty of your existing customer-base, and could even win the hearts of new players on the market, encouraging them to sign up with you instead of your competition.

Players use online chat forums to discuss any doubts or fears they might have about the gaming venues and websites on the market. They don't pull any punches, freely discussing the good, the bad, and the ugly. Seeing your compliance certificate proudly published in your marketing material might give them the comfort they need to play your games.
Pay close attention to the specifics of this published material. Players are smart, and many of them will take the time to carefully review and consider the scope of your certification.
Did your certification include the Random Number Generator (RNG)? How about the games and their underlying rules and mathematics? What about the security and integrity of your control environment? Players are well-aware of the many scandals that have rocked the industry over the last 10+ years, and they’re looking for assurances that your company will not cheat them out of their winnings.

Once you have ensured that the public is made aware of your credibility through certification, you can turn your attention to within your own organization to find further benefits.
Your certification might have included the technical and business controls for directing your gaming operations. This form of Information Systems Security (ISS) auditing can help to protect your

organisation from costly exposures emanating from both internal and external sources. Whether it’s to protect against Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, or prevent collusion scandals involving internal staff, certifications that include the control environment are becoming increasingly valuable.
Your certification can also help to protect against other, less obvious pitfalls. Consider that each Government Regulator has already invested tremendous resources in researching and calculating the potential risks that tend to plague most gaming operations. They have a great deal of know-how about what can
