EUROPEAN UPDATE Crossing the ticketing Rubicon

Italy’s cash/ticket handling dilemma is being solved by enterprising specialist, VNE

There are certain products that capture the spirit of the times, the zeitgeist. In the Italian gaming industry it isn't VLTs, but rather a complementary range of products that have captured the imagination of operators - and made their lives a whole lot easier. The domestic change machine supplier, VNE, has created a series of change machines that, simply put, work with everything. In a market currently over complicated with compatibility issues, the range of change machines offered by VNE accept, validate and return back to the player everything they want, be it tickets, cash, coins or cards.

Furthermore, VNE is presently working with concessionaires on the difficult issue of cross-ticketing, utilising its change machines to connect different systems with a common ticket redemption solution. "The personal validation system accepts all tickets from all systems," explained VNE's Lorenzo Verona at the Rimini Spring ENADA. "Currently, players take their ticket from the slot machine and insert it into the change machine to validate and redeem their ticket. However, we are co-operating with the concessionaires to integrate our solution into their machines. This agreement will enable concessionaires to connect directly to each system despite the different platforms at work."

Accepting bills, recycling notes, giving change in coins, notes and validating tickets, any location with an AWP and VLT needs a VNE change machine. The further expansion of VLTs will see different systems employed within the same location (currently operators have only been able to install single systems due to compatibility issues), which not only calls upon the flexibility of VNE's change machines, but also their security, as large amounts of cash are held onsite in remote locations. "Operators need to know they can rely on a very practical and reliable machine," stated Mr. Verona. "Whether it's bill - note recycling, handling coins, notes and change, to TITO integration, we can handle everything. Every location with an AWP and VLT needs a change machine and this is equally important for VLT locations in the future as the cross-ticketing solution is deployed."

VNE also enables operators to connect with their change machines online to

check the inventory and view the number of times the machine has been opened during the course of the day. The company is looking to build upon its success in Italy across international markets with deals already in place in the UK and Germany with Eurocoin and VNE is looking to develop further the US and Mexican markets further afield with its cashless and contact-less card systems.
