COMPANYPROFILE ROOF & GLASS

Conservatory roof & glass unit manufacturer Abcell Ltd will record their best ever 12 months of trading at the end of Feb 2011. They believe this is due to a combination of quality products, a flexible service, competitive pricing and quick turnaround.

This success has allowed the company to invest in a second Elumatec DG244 saw enabling even more flexibility for their growing customer base and ensuring a smooth increase in turnover to the targeted 100 roofs per week they want to achieve.

The Birmingham based company operate from their 12,000 sq ft high performance manufacturing facility and employ thirteen personnel. The factory floor work force are fully trained in all aspects of the manufacturing process to produce the calibre of product the company is renowned for. This is apparent in the 60 roofs and 400 units

of BSEN1279 Part 2 accredited performance glass they produce each week using their state of the art manufacturing machinery and software.

Abcell’s flagship performance roof glass is the eco-cool Max Aqua. The unit is argon filled and gives a U-value of 1.0 and has a solar heat reflection of 78% using warm edge Super Spacer, which all of Abcell’s units are made with. This top-spec unit specification gives outstanding ability to reflect the majority of the sun’s heat away from both skins of the unit. Also being a permanent self cleaning external surface and a low-e internal surface it offers enhanced thermal insulation and glare reduction. Abcell also offer a Blue and Clear option to their eco-cool Max range. Turnaround for the glass is 3-5 days while on the roofs it is 4-7 days with a free delivery service throughout the UK via their own fleet of vehicles.

The success of the glass processing side of the company has opened doors for business to be done with other roof fabricators who buy in their glass and also installers of other roof systems. Abcell are so confident with the quality of their products that they offer a 10 year roof guarantee and a 20 year glass unit seal failure guarantee.

Starting in January, Abcell is also offering a 5-7

day lead time on a selection of coloured foils on white roofs in the Global roof system. The colours of Chartwell Green, Black/Brown, Cream and Grey are usually found to have long lead times in the current market, so now offering such a short turnaround time Abcell hope to increase sales and turnover by supplying the new range of colours. This is a much needed step for the company and the roof system as there is an increase in demand for additional colours as installer’s portfolio’s grow as they strive to offer a distinctive product.
