Food Review @ We found that Mango Lounge offers…

“…exotic Thai and Indian cuisine accompanied by a peaceful English countryside setting”

About fifteen minutes in the car on a lovely spring morning brought us to our lunchtime destination this month; Mango Lounge on Station Road, Watford Gap, Northampton where we were greeted by the owner, Josh and his team.

The decor of this 120/150 seating restaurant reflects the Thai and Indian cuisine perfectly; warm wood tones, natural light complimenting the foliage and crisp table linens…just whisper the word ‘relax’!

Always mindful of budgetary restrictions and, bearing in mind our surroundings, it was a bonus to be offered a weekday lunchtime menu of a starter and main dish for only £6.95. Spoilt for choice, I went for the Thai Fish Cake followed by Pad Thai Noodles for one and my friend had Khanom Pang Na Goong (delicious deep fried minced prawns on toast with sesame seeds and chilli sauce) and the Thai Green Curry.

The quality of the dishes bare testament to the experience and qualifications of the chefs and their team - the Thai chef has a wealth of experience in 5 star hotels in his native country.

Filled to satisfaction, we wandered outside to the gardens and sat on the suntrap of the terrace and looked down across the vast lawn to the canal where we could see the narrow boats passing by.

With the summer almost upon us, Josh explained that the restaurant extends out into the garden on warmer days, therefore, a lunch of fine exotic food can be served to you in the beautiful, peaceful setting of the canal and…on Sundays, a barbecue is set up with everything you could wish for! Parties, group bookings and corporate events catered for.
