Litchfield Lacrosse Season Begins
by Lynne Ober After the anticipation of starting a new sport and getting teams ready
to play, competition in girls’ lacrosse kicked off on Sunday despite some raindrops. Andy Santom, who worked to get the new sport off the ground,
was delighted with the start of competition. “What many people don’t realize is that girls’ and boys’ lacrosse is completely different. Different set of rules. Different equipment. It is fascinating to see the differences between the two.”
Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports. Santom knew that
many colleges were offering athletic scholarships to lacrosse players. That was one of the reasons that he wanted to start the Litchfield league, which is also open to Hudson children. “This is our first season and it was great to finally get the players on the field,” he said.

in both the international and national competition in the adult division.
Imagica is a team comprised of adult figure skaters,
ranging in age from 23 to 59 years, who reside throughout Greater Boston and Southern New Hampshire. More than half of the team learned to skate as adults and carry a wide range of skating abilities. Imagica’s short program included a bold and patriotic skate to
an Olympic medley, where the skaters acted and performed a variety of winter Olympic sports; the long program, entitled “The Leprechaun’s Gold,” told the story of a leprechaun chase leading to a mystical elf and fairy village, and later to see a rainbow and find at the end a pot of gold. Imagica qualified to compete in the second Nation’s Cup after
winning gold at the 2010 U.S. Theatre on Ice National competition held in Troy, OH. Deb Childs of Litchfield is a member of the Imagica Theatre on
