The competition was played on a 40 overs basis between 1969 and 1998, except for 1993 when innings lasted for a maximum of 50 overs. Between 1999 and 2005 games were 45 overs per side with two divisions and three teams promoted and relegated. From 2006 the League reverted back to 40 overs with two divisions, with the bottom two in in Div. One being relegated and replaced by the top two teams in Div. Two. A Play-Off was also introduced between the team in 7th place in Div. One playing the 3rd team in Div. Two – the winners of the play-off securing a place in Div. One. Glamorgan took part in these Play-Offs in 2006 and 2008. The League reverted to just promotion and relegation in two divisions in 2009, before changing again in 2010 to three groups with the top team and best placed runners-up taking part in the semi-finals.
