played with Toronto the past two seasons. Like Beauchemin, forwards Jarkko Ruutu and Brad Winchester were acquired via trade in an active month of February to add grit and physical play. As has been the case many times the past few seasons,
the Ducks finished strong to secure a playoff spot. A loss on the day after Christmas to the Kings was the fourth defeat in five games and dropped Anaheim’s record to 18- 17-4. But the Ducks bounced back to win eight of their next 10 and go 29-13-1 from that point to the end of the sea- son. With 20 games left, the Ducks were 32-25-5 with 69 points and ranked 11th in the Western Conference. They went 15-5-0 over the last 20 games, to get where they are today. #
February 5-13, 2011 For just the third time in franchise history, the Ducks sweep a road trip of at least four games. After shutting out Colorado 3-0 in the first game of the trek, Anaheim knocks off each of the Canadian teams in the Western Conference (Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton). In the game at Calgary on Feb. 11, Anaheim gets a game-tying goal form Teemu Selanne with 2:07 left in reg- ulation before Cam Fowler punches in the game-winner with 19 seconds left in overtime for a 5-4 victory.
March 2, 2011 Tripped up on a breakaway, Bobby Ryan is awarded a penalty shot in overtime against the Red Wings at Honda Center. With the crowd chanting his name, Ryan whips the puck past Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard to give the Ducks a thrilling 2-1 victory.
March 4, 2011 Down 3-2 to Pacific Division foe Dallas, Teemu Selanne connects for the game-tying goal with 1:03 left in regulation. Lubomir Visnovsky, who had two goals previously in the game, completes the hat trick and the Anaheim comeback by scoring the game-winning goal with 3.8 seconds left in overtime to give the Ducks a 4-3 victory.
March 19-20, 2011 Corey Perry gets his first two overtime game-winning goals in one weekend. The first comes at the rival Kings, as he connects on a slapshot 1:32 into the extra session to give Anaheim a 2-1 road win. Back at Honda Center one night later, Perry redirects a Toni Lydman shot off his leg 2:38 into overtime for a 5-4 Ducks win. That game was also Anaheim’s 13th straight over the Flames at Honda Center, a streak which dates back to 2004.
March 23, 2011 With the clock ticking down in regulation, Teemu Selanne finds the back of the net to tie Dallas at 3-3 with 5.4 seconds left in regu- lation and joyfully celebrates with a few leaps in the air. Following the lead of Anaheim’s oldest player, its youngest, Cam Fowler, nets the game-winner 1:42 into overtime for an improbable 4-3 Ducks win.
April 6, 2011 Needing three goals to get to the magic number of 50 for the season, Corey Perry gets all three in a 6-2 rout of Pacific Division rival San Jose at Honda Center. He is just the third player in franchise history to reach the 50-goal mark, as Teemu Selanne achieved the feat twice and Paul Kariya once previously. It is also the first time a Western Conference player had scored 50 since 2007-08.
April 8, 2011 In the first game of a crucial home-and-home set with the rival Kings to finish the regular season, Anaheim gets two goals from Teemu Selanne and holds on for a 2-1 victory at Honda Center. The win clinches a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the fifth time in the last six years.
April 9, 2011 Just 24 hours after clinching a playoff spot, the Ducks get another big win over the rival Kings and shoot up three spots in the Western Conference standings to claim the fourth seed in the playoffs. Dan Ellis records a season-high 43 saves to lead Anaheim in the 3-1 win in the regular season finale at Staples Center.
