LIFESTYLE WATCHES

CHANEL The J12 has been one of the enduring successes of 21st century horology. The classic design of the first Chanel sports watch for men and women, with its scratch-proof ceramic case and bracelet, has been seriously sought after for over 10 years. But this is no ordinary fashion watch. Chanel has worked closely with Swiss master craftsmen, and

to date the J12 has taken numerous forms

such as a chronograph, a tourbillion and the much- coveted new Marine dive watch. Chanel successfully conquers the divide between practicality and accessory with their classic J12 black ceramic watch bezel set with diamonds and diamond indicators. www.chanel.com

MONTBLANC Montblanc might be best known as a maker of superb writing instruments, but it is now being taken very seriously as a producer of luxury watches. It launched its first timepiece, the Meisterstuck, in 1997, and subsequently bought the historic movement maker Minerva to bring manufacturing in-house. Some impressive feats of horology have since come through, particularly in the high-end flagship line ‘Collection Villaret 1858’. It’s more affordable ‘classic’ collection gets the new Timewalker TwinFly celebrating the 190th anniversary of the chronograph. Standard versions are stainless steel, but a limited edition of 300 pieces in black titanium are also available. www.montblanc.com

JAEGER-LE- COULTRE

In 1931, a watch was developed for Polo players with a dial that could flip, protecting it from shocks, and also offered a personalised engraved case-back. Bang on 80 years later, the Reverso has progressed from watch- making icon to cult status. To mark the model’s anniversary, Jaeger-Le- Coultre has launched a range of ultra-thin versions, the most desirable being the recently launched Reverso Répétition Minute à Rideau. With a skeletonised dial and a minute repeater complication, the new Reverso’s USP is a beautifully developed Venetian blind that covers its dial by default, and it is absolutely sure to become a serious collector’s item.
