NEWS New insurance body for Jersey


TO ASSIST and encourage the development of Jersey’s insurance sector, the Jersey International Insurance Association (JIIA) has been established by a number of the island’s professional insurance practitioners and service providers. The objective of the JIIA is to promote and develop Jersey’s international insurance industry and to establish the island as a recognised jurisdiction for reinsurance and captive insurance business.


Membership of the JIIA is open to insurance managers and insurers as well as those


from other professions supporting the insurance industry, such as lawyers, accountants and investment managers. For more information go to www.jerseyiia.org


New offices for Jersey Finance


JERSEY’S LINKS with India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations have been strengthened through the official launch of Jersey Finance’s representative offices in Abu Dhabi and Mumbai. The two new offices will support the promotion of Jersey as an international finance centre in India and the GCC region, and act as a hub for Jersey Finance to communicate the breadth and depth of its financial services.


Landmark for Guernsey’s fund industry


RECENT FIGURES show the value of investment fund business in Guernsey grew by £14.3bn (5.9 per cent) during the final quarter of last year. The increase represents the sixth consecutive quarter of growth, and takes the net asset value of funds under management and administration in the island to a record high of £257.4bn at the end of December 2010. This is a rise of £73.2bn (39.7 per cent) compared with the end of December 2009.


Mourant Ozannes advises on Nasdaq listing


MOURANT OZANNES has advised on the first Jersey company listing of shares on the US-based Nasdaq Global Market. Shares of Velti plc, a global provider of mobile marketing and advertising technology solutions, began trading on the market in February following completion of its US$150 million initial public offering (IPO) into the US market. The shares sold in the IPO were registered with the Securities Exchange Commission. Velti’s shares are also currently listed and traded on the alternative investment market of the London Stock Exchange.


C5 Alliance in Island Analysis deal

C5 ALLIANCE, the Channel Islands business solutions specialist, has taken a shareholding in Guernsey-based company Island Analysis, which provides research and benchmarking services for public and private sector organisations across the globe. This agreement is part of a longer-term plan to build a closer working relationship between the two companies, and Rob Leader of C5 Alliance will join the board of Island Analysis to help steer the new relationship.
