Matthew Rose, the Arundell pastry chef, has spent many hours over the last six months restoring the derelict kitchen garden into production.

He and many Arundell diners have benefitted from the fruits of his labours as he harvested twelve different types of vegetables, delicious strawberries and raspberries as well as fresh herbs.

When next dining at the Arundell Arms, ask which of the vegetables on your plate are from their own gardens.

The most recent additions to the garden have been eleven new fruit bushes consisting of blueberries, desert gooseberries, blackberries, red & white currants.

Also planted are some new fruit trees – apple, plum, pear, apricot and fig, all expected to harvest in the next 2 – 3 years.

The most anticipated is of course the next harvest which will be the Arundell Arms’ first home grown rhubarb which is expected to be on your plate this spring.
