Minack - unique theatre The 2011 season contains
many treats for the regular theatregoer and tourist alike.
It opens on May 23 with Cornish companies Bish Bash Bosh, Rough Coast, Miracle and Redruth A.O.S.T., sharing the bill with many other Minack regulars, including 2009 Minack Trophy winners Ilkley Playhouse, BROS Theatre Company, Shattered Windscreen and Next Stage.
As always, the season will have something for everyone with opera, Gilbert & Sullivan, comedy, Shakespeare, drama and musicals, including Puccini’s opera Madame Butterfly, Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing, popular musicals Guys and Dolls and Fiddler On The Roof, and much more.
Cambridge University G. & S. Society promise a spectacular production of The Pirates of Penzance at the end of the season to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary.
The box office is now open
selling tickets for the new season, by phone on 01736 810181 and on-line at
www.minack.com.
Daytime visitors are welcome throughout the year.
The Rowena Cade Visitor Centre tells the remarkable story of how a girl who enjoyed the gentility of Victorian Cheltenham grew up to build an internationally famous theatre with her own hands.
Visit during the day, explore the theatre and relax in the Coffee Shop overlooking the theatre (open to patrons only) and soak up the magic of the Minack.
Please note that the visitor centre closes during the afternoons on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the performance season when matinee performances take place.
There is also a two week period from June13 to 24 when the Visitor Centre is closed every weekday afternoon whilst special performances for schools are programmed.
