Spring 2011 Cornish Gardener 13 BODMIN PLANT AND HERB NURSERY

Having a good thyme

B

odmin Plant and Herb Nursery specialises in herbs and herbaceous

perennials, with hundreds of varieties of herbs and a few thousand flowering perennials – so be prepared to lose yourself in a sea of blazing colour and scent. But that’s not all... there is also a wide range of shrubs, grasses, climbers, alpines, marginal and water plants, fruit and ornamental trees, vegetable plants, bedding and hanging baskets. There are even whole areas dedicated to the more specific challenges of coastal, shady and ground- cover gardening. Bodmin Plant and Herb Nursery is the sort of nursery that you thought no longer

existed, with traditional growing, fresh and healthy plants, a range that surprises and excites, as well as friendly advice on-hand. The nursery is open every day of the week, throughout the year. Each year the nursery holds a herb festival, which aims to celebrate their growing and usage. It includes a herb and salad bar, local specialist producers presenting food which incorporates herbs, food sampling, ‘Grow-it, Cook-it’ demonstrations, herbs in sweet-making plus ideas for growing herbs in shadier spots and much more. The event, this year held over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, April 16-17, is free. Call 01208 76491 for more information.
