Campbell Students Earn Top Honors at NH Art All-State

CHS Art Students Madeline Vinskus, Kyle Messer, and Carol Wade. Missing: Sarah Belisle

by Doug Robinson

Students from Campbell High School (CHS) were recently honored at the NH Art All State Competition as a result of their works of art submitted by Art Teacher Mrs. Freeman. As a result of their prized art presentations, CHS students Carol

Wade, Madeline Vinskus, Kyle Messer, and Sara Belisle have been invited to participate in an Art Workshop at the NH Institute of Art. They will live in the dorms, collaborate with artists, as well as attend college classes.

Students were not only required to complete works of art, they were also required to complete an essay, answering the specific questions of: List all high school art courses you have taken and the art courses you plan to take later in your junior year or as a senior, describe your favorite art medium to work in, list any other art classes you have taken or programs you have attended outside of those offered at your school, and describe any awards or honors, etc., that you have won for your art and the approximate date you received them. Nominating teachers or sponsors were asked to provide professional recommendations as well, telling how long they have known the candidate and how they became acquainted with the candidate, providing insight into the student’s character and qualifications for participating in the New Hampshire All-State Art Festival program, and describing and elaborating on the student’s interest and abilities in art as much as possible. Over 160 students attended the All-State Festival from New Hampshire. These high school students will be partnered and mentored by art professionals during their internship at the Institute. Jurors at the All-State Competition evaluated each of the students’ three pieces of submitted work. The Continuing Education program at the New Hampshire Institute of Art offers outstanding non-credit fine art classes, workshops, and intensives for adults and high school students 15 years and older. Their small classes provide individual attention for students while they learn from our working professional faculty/ artists. Day, evening, and weekend courses are available for all skill

by Len Lathrop The Ice Broncos ended their season in NHIAA tournament play several weeks ago. On Sunday, March 27, the team, with their families and friends, gathered at the Alpine Grove banquet facility to celebrate their season, the meaning of ‘team,’ and to say goodbye to the seniors on the team. Players and their families socialized and

watched a slideshow of season highlights. After a buffet meal, the coaches awarded certificates to the players and manager, which highlighted the players’ contributions to the team. Seniors received gifts from the Friends of Alvirne Ice Hockey and a photo collage of their high school season. With cake for everyone, teammates and
