submitted by Dave Yates A new champion was crowned in the Hudson Recreation Over-35 Basketball League. In an exciting and highly contested game, M&N Sports pulled away at the end from defending champs Harris Trophy. The game was tied at 38-38 with three minutes left in the game. Mainly due to outstanding foul shooting down the stretch, M&N Sports went on a 13 to 4 run to win 51-42.

submitted by the Vigeant Family My name is June and my son Matthew was diagnosed four

years ago with a heart condition called Aorta Valve Regurgitation (a silent killer). When Matt was 11, he was taking the trash out and complained of a weird feeling in his chest that he explained as if “someone was squeezing his heart and slowly letting it go.” We then called his pediatrician, who informed us that Matt had a murmur and referred us to a specialist in Boston, MA. Matthew was told at that time that he can “never play sports or do anything strenuous, like weightlifting.” Luckily, Matt loves music and plays the drums and guitar and also finds solace in building things. He has always been a very busy boy; even when he was little, he

loved to build stuff. He would take a hammer and nails and some spare wood from his dad. Matthew would build tables, chairs, and bookshelves. Recently, Matt was bored, so he decided to go into the woods and start cutting small trees down or cut trees that had fallen into logs. He would work out there for a few hours after school and on the weekend, and a week later, he had a log cabin. My husband and I cannot believe the work he put into this log cabin; he built a bed and also a garbage barrel inside. It has a rock path leading up to the door. It is amazing! Matt will most likely need a heart valve repair or replacement in the future; he is stable right now with the help of medication and scaled as a 7 on a severity level (an 8 is when he will need surgery). The point of my story is that no matter what life throws at you, a

child will always find a positive to outweigh the negative. He has taught his family that even though you have restrictions in your life, you can always transfer the bad energy into something amazing! My son is truly a gift from God—we are very blessed! He makes his family very proud.
