Dear Reader, Hopefully you all enjoyed our April Fool’s joke last week with the printing of this page upside-down. If you would like your name to be printed with your ‘thumbs’ comment, please clearly indicate that to us and we will be happy to publish your name under your comment. Also, as is the practice of this paper, when we feel a topic has been carried long enough, we exercise the option to suspend that topic.
“Thumbs up to the Litchfield’s GMS Teachers
and Paraprofessionals for their amazing work for our children! You are greatly appreciated.”
“Thumbs down to restaurants like IHOP that write half of their menu in Spanish. Why are we catering to a group of people who want the benefits of citizenship but aren’t willing to learn the language.”
“Thumbs down to Aunt Jemima brand frozen products that now have half of their packaging in Spanish. Maybe my thinking is in the minority or maybe I’m just too patriotic but I now buy Eggo brand.”
“Thumbs down to the married man living with his girlfriend at Abbott Farms. You think a mile and a half from your house is far enough? Shame on you! Alaska wouldn’t be far enough!”
“Thumbs down to the parents picking up their kids at Hudson Memorial School. Park in a parking space instead of blocking up the whole

parking lot by waiting in the drop off section. Getting into the parking lot is a nightmare some days because of you blocking off people from parking. Also you very rudely block the people who do park from getting out no matter how many times they honk you don’t move.”
“Thumbs up to Moms and Dads who have sons and daughters serving in the military! You’re what makes this nation great! For any parents with children considering a military career, please ask them to delay. The complete inability of this administration to justify any of their bizarre behavior in Afghanistan and now Libya, except for the ubiquitous ‘It’s George Bush’s fault’ is very disconcerting. Thumbs down to Obama and his cronies, they are the epitome of Reckless Incompetence.”
“Thumbs down to the person targeting state
workers in this column. If you had taken the time to read up on the subject you would know that the state pension system is in trouble due to State and employer mismanagement. Now the legislature is targeting all the people who are in evil rich unions (according to you). Yes, police officers, firefighters, teachers, clerks, janitorial staff, plow drivers, etc are known for their high pay and multi-million dollar homes. I’m a state worker, and a taxpayer in this State. I drive an eight-year- old car, live in a duplex, and have no trust that I will have any sort of pension by the time I can hopefully retire. Just like you, I have no say in how my ‘company’ sets up and manages my pension.”
“Thumbs up and a big
thank you to the person who found & returned our Redbox movie at Hannaford’s! Your honesty is surely appreciated. Thanks again!”
“Thumbs down to the HPD for issuing tickets inside the NWES parking lot for kids unbuckling their seat belts prematurely upon drop-off. A little education and warning would have been sufficient. The whole two-cop scene was unnecessary and
inappropriate....then again, it was the end of the month and everyone has a quota.”
“Thumbs down, a monstrous ‘thumbs down’ to the sub shop. It is very bad business to take your telephone off the hook for orders more than 30 minutes prior to your closing time. I’ll make sure to tell my family and friends, so that we can take our business elsewhere, therefore our money, that will not be paid to you. Thanks for the clarification.”
“Thumbs down to the ‘mother’ who is supposed to be home-schooling your child, but don’t. Class is not in session? You can’t sleep all day and have her baby-sit your kids. Just what is she learning, childcare? You need to be taught that

when you commit to something, you have to carry through. Do you pay her? Didn’t think so.”
There’s a vehicle out there that is right for you.
“Thumbs down to Hudson’s decision to cancel school on last Friday. Seriously, you KNOW that you could have called a delay cause it wasn’t even severe. Glad to know I’ll still be in class on June 25th. There goes ten days of our summer lost cause of snow days that could have been delays. Thanks. How about you realize we live in New England and we can handle going to school with a couple of inches on the ground. You better make better choices next winter. Cause there is no student or parent happy to have snow days anymore with all the loss of summer days.”
“Thumbs down – Cabaret
was ‘sexually suggestive?’ 1500 people attended and you alone thought anything was sexually suggestive. That says it all. The comment about the red cards advertising the web site is ridiculous. They advertised a web site for the music program. How is that sexually suggestive?”
“Thumbs down to the person who put a ‘thumbs down’ to the Lazy Moms and Dads of Hudson. FYI, my sons do NOT have chores.
One is, and always has been an honor student! He’s in seventh grade and there is no risk of him ‘flunking out of school.’ He’s brilliant and when

young. Again, he is not in danger of ‘flunking out.’ They know how to save money and work for things they want. I’m a stay at home mom that has plenty of time on my hands to do the ‘chores’ around the house therefore, my children do not have to. Keep your inappropriate opinions to yourself.”
“Thumbs down to SAU and
tech department for selling Litchfield School Board a bill of goods. Way to waste taxpayer money on at least fifty computers that won’t perform the necessary tasks for teachers in the classroom. We build a school that’s wireless and state of the art, with LCD’s and Smart Boards, then we decide to plug back into the wall with desktops. Dumb? I’d say so. Maybe ask a teacher or two what currently exists and functions in the classroom before you spend tons of money the town doesn’t have. No wonder
wake up. What is the plan for the site? Are they going to build houses? That will be good living under high voltage line those people will end up brain dead like the people that let this disaster

happen! Move the machinery out, plant some trees and let the place become normal again.”
“Thumbs up to Laura Bisson for dedicating so
many hours of her time for the betterment of all of our children. She helped initiate the Drop Out Task Force because she cares for and wants to see all children of Hudson have every opportunity they can in life. Did you ever think that the quote in the paper may have been taken out of context? She is right on, thinking if we address issues early we can possibly avoid problems in the future. Thank you Laura for all you do!”

“Thumbs down to the person thinking the cabaret show was sexually suggestive. If you can get a grip on your morals and go to the website on the business card you would see that it is the web site for the music department and you can see a wonderful slide show of all the volunteers setting up for the spectacular show. You are obviously not an Elvis fan because Elvis did many more hip thrust than that student demonstrated I for one think he did a great job getting into character.
As for the Chippendale’s performance I would hardly call removing a jacket to reveal a sleeveless dress shirt a striptease. ‘Thumbs up’ to all the students and staff for making the show so enjoyable.”
“Thumbs down to the eyesore on the corner of Adelaide Street and Ferry Street. How long before you get the ugly antique dump truck and excavator out of there and put them in his own front yard! First you stripped the land and then went away, came back months later and did the same thing again. Now this year you have cut trees, removed them, and done nothing else. I drive by there everyday and see this horrible site, I feel bad for the people that live directly across the street from this and are forced to look at it every day when they
“Thumbs up! UP! UP! to Cabaret and the music department at AHS!!!!! You out-did yourself this year!!! My family looks forward to this production every year and Viva Las Vegas was above and beyond all expectations! The town of Hudson should be very proud of the dedication and love the staff and students have not only for music but for their commitment to bringing a top notch performance to us every year!! THANK YOU!!!”
“Thumbs up, way up to all the volunteers who
work so hard to help put Cabaret together for the town of Hudson!!! From decorations to add book to refreshments to set up
to...etc. You all do a fantastic job every year! This year’s cabaret Viva Las Vegas was perfect!!!”
“Thumbs up to the new Litchfield selectmen, it is about time someone holds the out-of-control fire chief accountable for his actions. ‘Thumbs down’ to the uninformed people who think now that the selectmen will be appointing the fire chief, it makes it a full time position. It’s still part time. The only change is how the Chief is picked..”

a slang. It doesn’t have the same meaning that it did years ago, now the politically correct term is mentally handicapped. I have every respect for anyone handicapped, and as far as the plow driver is concerned I don’t. I could have called him an idiot or stupid, they are all slang’s of the same meaning. I agree the English language is a bit messed up. I’m sorry if I offended anyone, it wasn’t meant for anyone who is disabled. As for the plow driver who is acting immature, I’d say it’s about time to retire.”
