Year 8 students who took part in the Dancers Unite competition
Over the past 11 weeks, 21 girls in Year 8 worked incredibly hard learning a street dance routine taught to them by Louise Lister – the director of local dance company “No Limit”.
The pupils then performed the dance that they had learned as part of Westminster Sports Unit’s “Dancers Unite” competition at Porchester Hall on Thursday 17th February, where they competed against other Westminster Schools.
Overall GCH came 3rd in the competition. This is a great achievement as the competition was for KS3 and
Debating news
Y9 Debating Club On January 9th students from Year 10 led members of the Year 9 Debating Club in a Year 9 Assembly debate which proposed the motion 'This House would punish parents for the crimes of their children'. This so impressed Miss Shaw that she asked the Year 9 Debating Club to present a debate at a Year 8 Assembly on March 2nd. The Year 10 debaters had already demonstrated their ability to their own Year at
an assembly on February 1st and students are now preparing for another performance.
Following lively participation in the first round of the Urban League Debating Competition at St Saviour's and St Olave's in January, members of the Year 9 Debating Club were again speaking on Tuesday, 8th March. This time the GCH students were travelling some bus stops beyond SSSO to

4 and the other schools were made up of pupils in Year 10 and 11. Further congratulations also go to Harley Mae Charles in 8G and Olivia Taylor in 8H who received commendations for their hard work and
improvement over the 11 weeks.
For the whole day, the girls’ behaviour was impeccable and it made me very proud to watch them performing so well on the stage. Congratulations to all of the pupils involved.
