Grey Coat 10 Parents' Guild Issue 11: March/April 2011

Junior netball round up

International Fair Saturday 14th May

May seems far away now when spring is only just beginning to make itself felt but it will soon be upon us and with it the excitement of the International Fair. It is not too early to start making those jams, potting on those seedlings and pickling those onions – all make for a Guild contribution that is greatly appreciated. But most important of all, put the date in your diary and be on hand to show the flag – not just for your daughter’s class and choice of country but also to encourage those seedling New Greys who will be visiting the school as future pupils, perhaps for the first time.

Stained glass window appeal

As we go to press, the Appeal has passed the £10,000 mark. As you will remember this is a fundraising campaign by your Guild – us parents. So thank you to all who have already contributed to this marvellous total. HOWEVER there is still some way to go before we reach our target. So please, please, please get those cheque books out, organise those fund raising events and make this window the reality it deserves to be. Or donate on line at: www.justgiving.com/ stainedglasswindowappeal

Dates for your Diaries 2010: Wednesday 4th May

Saturday, 14th May Wednesday 15th June Friday 24th June

The Year 7&8 squad this year have got off to a fantastic start. Not only have we been looking like pros in our new netball dresses but we have had the skills to match. The Westminster Netball League kicked off with a win against St Augus- tine’s with the Year 7 winning 4-0 and the Year 8 winning 10-3! This winning streak continued against Paddington Academy with both Year 7 and Year 8 teams storming the score sheet 7-0 and 14-1 respectively.

Halfway through the season we suffered a setback of our first squad loss against Portland Place. An away match put the squad on unfamiliar turf and it got to the teams both physically and psychologi- cally resulting in a loss of Year 7 7-0 and Year 8 4-3.

As a team we are focusing on what we can learn from each match and as a squad are keen not to let the loss get us down. I have been proud of the squad’s achievements and approach to their training and matches.
