CLUED UP POINT OF VIEW LETTERS TO JAPAN

Dear children from Japan, I feel so sorry for you. I really

hope this won’t happen again. I would do anything for you. I really think that the tsunami was extra bad for every child and your mums and dads. I hope you fi nd another family who has a house and can let you come in their house to be looked after.

Love from Laura Laura Schusser

The children at Hurlingham School, in Putney, have been very interested in Japan lately. Reception held a “be brave” assembly and discussed what it meant to be brave and how the children in Japan might be feeling at the moment. Japanese Club members who are in Year 2 (ages 6-7) were eager to learn about how the people in Japan were affected, and in turn, what they could do to help. The children wanted to write letters to the people of Japan to let them know that they are all thinking of them, and to give them strength. We have printed some excerpts here which show that even the youngest children can show an empathy beyond their years . . .

Dear children from Japan,

Dear Children of Japan, I feel heart broken for you.

I hope you are all ok. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to live through a tsunami. I am going to try to earn some money for you and then send it to a charity. I feel so lucky that I have a lovely family and a proper home right now. I am so sorry for you. Stay strong and have lots and lots of hope!

Lots and lots of love, from Willow

I feel very sorry for everyone who was affected by the quake. I really wouldn’t like that to happen to me! I hope you can get money to get you new homes. I also hope some more people get evacuated to safety. Stay strong and look after your families and friends.
