Both Wayne Wilkins and Lynne Berridge have stepped down as committee members. Wayne has served for a considerable amount of time as Chairman, and latterly Treasurer, and has been responsible for a huge amount of behind the scenes work and organisation, much of which has taken up large amounts of his time and efforts. We must applaud Wayne for these efforts. Praise must be lavished on to Lynne as well, who brought a very welcome female perspective to our committee meetings. Our very successful annual awards dinner held at Court Colman was organised virtually single-handed by Lynne, and everyone who attended agreed that it was an immensely successful evening. We have a very special one-day seminar with Henk van Kooten to be held on 23rd May 2011. Henk is the current President of the MPA and is also the Chairman of the MPA judges panel, and we have a very unique opportunity to spend a day with him. May 9th 2011 – Fun Day May 23rd 2011 – all-day seminar with MPA President Henk van Kooten, venue to be announced. See South West. July 4th 2011 – Welsh Competition Judging, judge Hoss Mahdavi. TV show seeks couples
RARE DAY has been commis- sioned by Channel 4 to make a series of five stand-alone films about growing up in Britain today. Each film will be about a young person (or number of young people) who are going through a transition in their lives. “We want the films to be inspiring, featuring people who are thoughtful, engaging and resilient”, they say.
One film will focus on love and commitment, through the eyes of young people and what it means to form a meaningful relationship. They are currently looking for people under 25 who are getting married this year to speak to as part of their confidential research. “There’s absolutely no obliga- tion for anyone we speak to as part of our research to be involved in any filming”, they add.
